image header probs

hi there. i have the esther theme and it usually allows me to upload and crop a new photo for my image header. but when i tried to do that (over and over with various photos) this evening, it would then give me a page that says 'crop header' but with no crop lines and then a button to upload it to the site, when i check the site to see if it's there, there is just an empty frame with a black space. is this just an anomaly that will clear itself eventually if i am patient enough?

thank you to whoever, if anyone, has done whatever they might have done, as i now have my photo frame back.

but now my widgets seem to be all in a muddle!

nessa, what do you mean by "all in a muddle"? I''m afraid I need that technical description translating...

ok, fair enough. sorry, my non coding head went 'all in a muddle' itself after fighting with wordpress themes and widgets and uploading tools and things for far too long and my powers of acurate description simply imploded.

deep breath, let me try again. sorry, to make a long explanation very long indeed:

for quite awhile, I had a 'feedjit.com widget' code (html, NOT java) pasted into my text widget in my right sidebar. this is because it gives me a better picture of the cities of my visitors from around the globe than the already fabulous wibsite stats, so helps me know how to target my audience sopmetimes, and i just like how the info is displayed visually when i check the feed, oh and i just find cities interesting. (sorry chris, have i managed to dig myself out of a hole yet, for being unfaithful?? never to imply that the existing stats are not totally appriciated and wonderful! my vanity just likes me to be instantly omniciant as quickly as possible.)

so anyway, I had had it in my sidebar, but i customised the feedjit widget so that the cities did not actually show in the sidebar as a visible feed by making the text the same colour of the background, and i did that becuase when i went to a friend's blog once who had the widget installed and saw my own city listed there, i got a bit freaked out that i was being listed publicly on her blog. i couldn't get rid of the flags, but that didn't matter so much. in other words, i'm interested in the feed, but i don't feel that everyone needs to see it.

ANYWAY, when I went to change the colour of the widget from burntsienna to just plain white, and tried to paste the new code into the text widget in the side bar, it changes the code now.
it changes from me pasting:
<img src="http://feedjit.com/b/f22c8817c9869141.png" alt="" ISMAP />
to:
<img src=/"http://feedjit.com/b/f22c8817c9869141.png" alt="\" /> which doesn't work.

I've temporarily put it in my last post and the code changes there too, but it works a bit in the post, but the flags look a bit weird there, wheras in the sidebar, they're out of the way and inobtrussive. also, i only get stats for those who land on that post, not other areas of my blog, like i used to get when it was located in my sidebar.

phew. sorry.

There seem to be problems with backslashes in a few places. I wonder if the server guys have changed anything... I'll take a look.

Well, something is there below your posts (e.g.: http://burntsienna.wibsite.com/2009/07/31/burnt-norton/) which links to feedjit.com. Did you move the code or something?

yes, that's what i was trying to say. at the moment, i have to put the code at the end of every post because it will no longer stay the correct code when i try to put it in the sidebar. (the text changes when i hit save in the text widget) but i'd really prefer it to be out of the way in the sidebar and not tagged onto the end of each post if possible. it used to work fine in the sidebar, i just don't understand why it started changing the text to include extra '/'s on me when i hit save.

Looks like the sidebar thing is changing your code. How are you putting the code in, exactly? Are you using an HTML widget?

to my knowledge the text widget in the sidebar always accepted HTML code before, but now it changes from

<img src="http://feedjit.com/b/f22c8817c9869141.png" alt="" ISMAP />
to:
<img src=/"http://feedjit.com/b/f22c8817c9869141.png" alt="\" />

with the extra / and \ near the quotes. when i put the first code in the body of my posts it still removes the ISMAP, but it still works as a feed.
